Vetiver Essential Oil
Vetiver Essential Oil is distilled from the plant’s roots and has a warm and deep fragrance similar to myrrh and to iris roots. Vetiver was used as an essence – a base for layering other more potent perfumes over – much like a carrier oil of today.
The oil is amber-brown in color, and has a sweet, woody and smoky fragrance. Similar to patchouli oil the odor of Vetiver develops and improves with ageing. Other commentators suggest Vetiver has a heavy, earthy fragrance with a touch of lemon.
Vetiver has a strong and pleasant aroma that is used traditionally in India as a household and personal deodorant, as well as for personal hygiene and soaps and shampoos. We like the behavioural benefits of Vetiver in calming and soothing.

Why I love it
I use Vetiver for behaviour management. If my child is in melt-down mode I will often diffuse Vetiver or dab a drop on each of their wrists to calm & settle behaviour. Works a treat! I also use it as a sleep time blend with Lavender and Cedarwood – smells amazing!
